Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a new scheme for vector quantization of mel-cepstral coefficients for given input speech frame based on a statistical measure used in mel-cepstral analysis. We also show the codebook training algorithm for the proposed method, and extend the proposed method in order to apply it to multi-stage vector quantization. Experimental results show that the proposed method can represent speech spectra more efficiently than the conventional vector quantization and LPC-VQ.
