Design and Parallel Implementation of FIR Filters with Simultaneously Variable Magnitude and Fractional Delay Responses

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new method for designing variable one-dimensional (1-D) FIR digital filters with both variable megnitude and variable non-integer group delay responses. First, the coefficients of the variable FIR filter are represented by the polynomials of a pair of spectral parameters ; one is for varying the magnitude response, and the other is for varying the non-integer group delay response. Then the optimal coefficients of the two-dimensional (2-D) polynomials are found by minimizing the total squared error of the variable frequency response. Since the coefficients of the obtained FIR filters are the polynomials of the two spectral parameters, thus substituting different values of the spectral parameters yields different (variable) magnitude response and non-interger group delay response. Finally, we show that the resulting variable digital filters can be implemented in parallel forms, which are suitable for high-speed signal processing.
