Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Applying the wavelet transform to the time-frequency analysis of speech signals,we have expected to be possible to detect new characteristies of speech signals, which the short time fourier transform(STFT)can′t detect. As preparation for application of the wavelet transform to speech recognition systems,we examine in this paper the result of analyzing speech signals by using the wavelet transform with non-orthogonal wavelet functions and the usual STFT with window functions. As the result, two applications which depend on frequency resolution of the wavelet transform are considered.
