A Switching Median Filter Based on Counter Propagation Networks

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an implementation for switching median filters using counter propagation networks. The proposed filter consists of an impulse detector based on the counter propagation networks and a median filter. The median filter only removes the impulse noise marked by the impulse detector and isn't applied to the other pixels. By using the proposed method, we can achieve to reduce the impulsive noise and keep the edges and details in an image. For the impulse noise with high probability, this filter can be used repeatedly, then the noise can eliminate efficiently. Finally, several examples are given to illustrate the utility of the proposed technique.
