A Generalized Subspace Method for Blind Identification of FIR Systems with Correlated Input Signals

Abstract(in English) Recently, the problem of 'blind identification of FIR systems (or channels)' attracts considerable attentions from both signal processing and communications communities. This is mainly because an over-sampling thchnique made it possible to identify a constant multiple of the exact FIR system from the observable second order statistics of the received signals without being affected by additive noise. However there has not been reported an identification scheme to follow the practical situations where an unknown signal with a correlated auto-covariance matrix R_2 is fed to the FIR system to be identified. In this paper, by extending the notion of so called subspace mothod to find the estimate in a signal subspace robust to noisy situation, we propose Generalized subspace method available to identify the FIR system under general situations. It is shown that the proposed scheme can estimate a constant multiple of the exact FIR system without using any additional prior information on the system even if an unknown signal with correlated nonsingular R_2 is fed to the system. Moreover, if R_2 becomes singular, the proposed Generalized subspace method obtain an optimal estimate nearest from the reduced signal subspace.
