Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In communication applications, modulation type classification is a technique which is applicable to such as realization of universal demodulator, surveillance and interference identification. And correct estimation of symbol rate and carrier frequency of received signal is indispensable prior to modulation type classification when digital modulation signal is classified. In this paper, we use the block demodulation method proposed previously to estimate symbol rate and carrier frequency, and propose an method to identify the digital modulation type by statistical information of phase, amplitude and instantaneous frequency at the estimated symbol points. Generally there are two approaches for modulation type classification, decision-theoretic one based on comparison to the predetermined thresholds and pattern recognition one. In this study, we use the first approach because the process is comparatively simple.
