Development of A Standard Cell Library for VDEC

Abstract(in English) Education of LSI systems are one of the most important component of curriculum of departments of computer sciences and electrical engineering. To progress the experimental courses of LSI design and researches on LSI, VDEC (VLSI Design and Education Center) were established in the University of Tokyo as a cooperative center for all universities and polytechnic schools in 1996. VDEC provides CAD tools for design, handles design data from universities and submits the design data to foundries for fabrication. It is a keen issue to establish a clear interface between foundries and CAD tools, such as standard cell library, for inexpensive services. We have developed a method of library design for VDEC and developed a complete standard cell library in short time and with small cost. In this paper, we summarized the process of our library development.
