Motion Compensation for MPEG Video in the DCT Domain

Abstract(in English) In many advanced multimedia applications such as satellite broadcasting CATV and packaged media include Video CD and DVD, video data is often compressed using the algorithms of the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) with Motion Compensation (MC). In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for MC prediction directly in the DCT compressed domain. The algorithm of MC prediction in the DCT domain is applied on the image scaling directly in the DCT domain. Simulations using MPEG video are presented to quantify some performance factors concerned.
