A Camera Tube with a Field Emitter Array

Abstract(in English) A Camera tube with Spindt type field emitters was fabricated. Using newly devised fabrication processes such as aging of the emitters,this kind of experimental tube has been successfully operated to pick-up images for the first time.The limited resolution of 600TV lines was obtained,but lag characteristics were not sufficient.These results can be ascribed to the structure of the electron gun made of a large number of emitters and to large divergence of the emitted electrons.It was clear that degradation of I-V characteristics of emitters in the tube was large compared with that in ultra-high vacuum chamber.Problems to improve this kind of camera tube and to realize the imaging plate with field emitter arrays are discussed on the basis of these results.
