Field emission properties of transition metal nitrides.

Abstract(in English) Among the transition metal nitrides,titanium and niobium nitrides are examined here.Both the nitride emitters are fabricated by heating the raw metal needles in an ammonia gas atmosphere.Field emission current from the TiN emitters show step- and spike-like current fluctuations.This type of current fluctuation seems to be common in the field emission currents from other transition metal nitrides.The field emission properties of the niobium nitride field emitter clearly changed at the flashing temperature about 1500℃.The AES analysis of the niobium nitride su ggests that the change of the field emission properties is due to the decrease of the nitrogen content at the emitter surface.
