Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A focus-electrode-modulated Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) with 300W power in the band from 5.8 to 18 GHz and 400W power in the band from 8 to 17 GHz has been developed for use in radar transmitters, earth stations for satellite communications, and EMC (Electro-magnetic Compatibility) applications. In developing the TWT, the design of the metal-segment-loaded slow wave circuit was optimized to obtain broadband dispersion characteristics, and the impedance transition section with broadband impedance matching was adopted. As a result, the TWT having octave-band and the world's highest output power has been realized. This paper describes the design and performance characteristics of the TWT.
