Light Emitting Image for Starlike Thin-film Field Emitter

Abstract(in English) On the initial stage of electron emission from a starlike field emitter (FE), a unique light emitting pattern was observed and its geometrical configuration was roughly agreed with the simulation result. From the observation of light emitting images for a single starlike FE and a 200μm-square FEA, it was confirmed that the electron emission occurred from the apices of the starlike emitter and after longer time operation, the light emitting image changed spotty image. Also, a FEA with focus electrode have been fabricated and the contraction rate of 0.48 and the electron emitting angle of 17° at 200V of focus electrode potential were obtained.
