Influence of the annealing atmosphere on electrochemically deposited CdS thin films

Abstract(in English) CdS films were electrochemically deposited from acid solutions (pH=2.5) containing CdSO_4 and Na_2S_2O_3. The substrate was indium-oxide coated glass. These films were annealed in N_2, air or O_2 at 200-500℃ for 30min. Photoluminescence spectra were measured by He-Cd laser excitation at 77K. For the films annealed in N_2, as the annealing temperature was raised the band edge emission at 488nm became weaker and the luminescence due to defects shifted to longer wavelength. But, for the films annealed in air or O_2, the band edge emission was observed strongly irrespective of the annealing temperature. The width of the peak was narrower for the O_2 annealing than for the air annealing.
