Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Field electron emission was confined to (100)surface at the apex of tungsten needle when Ti and Si are co-deposited to the side faces of an <100> orientated needle by about one mono-atomic layer and heat treat data certain temperature. This phenomenon is independent of the order of the deposition. The work function was decreased due to the treatment to 3.3eV, while it was 4.5eV for the bare(100) surface.
