Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For industrial applications of gyrotrons, reducing their initial and running costs is an important consideration. We designed and tested a 28GHz, 10kW, TE_02 mode, 2nd harmomic, CW gyrotron with a permanent magnet system to increase overall effciency. Supplementary coils were wound directly on the gyrotron for fine adjustment of the magnetic fields at the electron gun and in the cavity .The gyrotron generates an output power of 10kW with an efficiency of 30.8% at a beam voltage of 25kV, a beam current of 1.3A. A slightly tapered magnetic field in the cavity improves oscillation efficiency, attaining a maximum efficiency of42.2% with an output power of 4.96kW.
