Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper discusses how chaos is utilized in analog and digital communications. First, we review the Pecora and Carroll's method for design of chaotically synchronized systems. Next, we present two methods, which are called chaos masking and chaos modulation, for analog communications, and a method called chaos shift keying (CSK) for digital communications. We demonstrate communication systems designed by each method using Chua's circuit. Finally, we introduce a novel concept of synchronization, and describe a new class of CSK which is called chaotic phase shift keying.
