The Design of High NA(0.85) Aspherical Single Lens for Next Generation Optical Disc System

Abstract(in English) As the standards of the high density optical disc system, several methods were presented that employed an object lens with NA0.85. Two element objective lenses with NA0.85 have been developed and tried for next generation optical disc system. 1)2) However, we are sure that a single lens is required which would help to achieve a longer working distance and a smaller diameter because the size and the cost shall be major factors to the future of NA0.85 lens. Here we are pleased to introduce the design concept, and also report about favorable performance of the new lens redesigned for mass production.
