An Unbalanced/Balanced MCF for Cellular Phones

Abstract(in English) MCF(Monolithic Crystal Filter).which is utilized as the 1st IF on the receiving part of the cellular phones, is recently required very much to be designed as 'balanced-type MCF' (especially, 'unbalanced-input/balanced output'type) for fitting to the impedance of IC. For this report, we tried analyze the relation between the capacitance among each electrodes of inputs and outputs and the attenuation with 'PSpice', the electronic circuit simulator. We believed that this relation could give us way-out to understand the problem about the attenuation characteristics (in the lower frequency range) of'unbalanced-input/balanced-output' 2pole MCF. As a result of the analysis, we found that even the tiny difference between the capacitance among each electrodes effects the big impact on the attenuation characteristics. And with that experince, we have finally developed 'unbalanced-input/balanced-output' 2pole MCF (center frequency of 110MHz), which has the good attenuation characteristics. And also, we have reached development of 'unbalanced-input/balanced-putput' 3pole MCF which has the good attenuation characteristics as well. By the way, 3pole MCF has the advantage than 2pole MCF for the better attenuation characteristics nearer from the center frequency.
