Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The tantalum oxide film has excellent optical characteristics such as high refractive index and low propagation loss in the visible light region compared with other metal oxides. In this study, we combined the nematic liquid crystal cell having large refractive index anisotropy on the tantalum oxide optical wave guide in order to control the reflected light at the tantalum oxide/liquid crystal organic layer interface. It was found that both output light and the capacitance of liquid crystal were controllable by the applied voltage to the liquid crystal. It was also found that the output light change was improved by the insertion of very thin polyimide orientation layer and the rubbing condition. |
