Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A pulsed lightwave is used to measure distributed strain in a conventional sensing scheme using Brillouin scattering in an optical fiber, whose nature limits a spatial resolution to about 1m. On the contrary, higher spatial resolution is required for realizing smart materials. To avoid the problem, we have proposed a correlation-based technique. This paper describes demonstration of the spatial resolution of 1cm and ways to enlarge measurement region in this technique.
