Abstract(in English) We have experimentally demonstrated all-optical RZ-NRZ and NRZ-RZ format conversions using a polarization bistable vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser(VCSEL), together with a demultiplexing (DEMUX) having a bit length conversion function. We have demonstrated the RZ-NRZ format conversion at 1 Gbit/s with an optical gain of 15dB. Our numerical simulations predict that these all-optical signal processings call operate at 20~50 Gbit/s.
