Abstract(in English) Characterization of surface oxidized layer formed on Al-Y alloy have been examined with varying the alloy composition. In the alloy with an Al-rich composition, the surface Al_2O_3 layer exhibits the ability of self-passivation despite of the Y_2O_3 formation in the layer. On the contrary, surface oxidized layers on the Y-rich alloys are dominated by the oxidation behavior of Y, resulting in the restricted oxidation of Al only near the surface. The behavior of the oxidation is successfully interpreted due to the thermal properties and kinetics of the oxidation of Al and Y.
