Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We focused on inter-module level optical interconnections for which waveguides need a low propagation loss and high flexibility and fabricated deuterated-PMA based flexible single-mode and multimode polymer waveguides. The insertion loss of single-mode waveguide (65mm long) at 1.31μm with a bending radius of 10 mm was 1.7 dB. We also measured the insertion losses for multimode waveguides (65mm long) at 830nm with a bending radius of 5mm. The average insertion loss for an 8-waveguide array was 0.51dB and the bending loss was negligible within the margins of experimental error. Moreover we connected MT type connector to multimode polymer flexible waveguuide.
