Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) During photochemical change of the bacteriorhodopsin protein (bR), both the absorption and refractive index change at 633 and 442 nm, corresponding to the absorption edges of the two photochemical states. A Fabry Perot cavity containing bR thin film can be set to exhibit a novel bistability acting on optical properties at two wavelengths simultaneously. We may be able to construct an optical device allowing two dimensional optical information storage, non-destructive optical readout, and parallel image transfer.
