Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Halorhodopsin (HR) and Bacteriorhodopsin (BR) are light-induced chloride anion and proton pump protein in the cytoplasmic membrane of halophilic bacteria, respectively. These membrane proteins in cell envelope were immobilized on a lipid bilayer modified electrode. When yellow light was illuminated to the electrode, the light-induced electrogenic response of the electrode was detected. It was shown that these responses reflect the ion pumping by the proteins, and the peak value of the light-induced current of HR-immobilized electrode increased according to the increase of the chloride concentration. This shows that HR is a candidate for chloride ion recognition element of chloride sensor.
