Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An automatic system (Bio-Cell Tracer; BCT) for the analysis of dynamic growth of fungal cells has been developed and applied to practical situations. This system has enabled the real time determination of fungal cell growth in the presence or absence of various agents. From the growth rate response curves, the antifungal activity was evaluated within a few hours. BCT was found useful for the assessment of antifungal activity of antifungal drugs against clinical isolates by a system which could simulate the time course of the drug concentration in blood. BCT was found also applicable to the fundamental research on physiology of fungi and study on the dynamic growth process of other biological samples (pollen tubes or plant roots).
