Abstract(in English) | The magneto-optical effect of films with disordered bismuth-substituted YIG (Bi:YIG)/SiO_2 multilayer structures is analyzed theoretically. In the disordered multilayer films, weak localization of light takes place, and the resultant magneto-optical Faraday rotation angle (θ_F) is subject to huge enhancement; For instance, at λ=1.15μm, θ_F of the film reaches at 30(deg/μm), the value of which is about 800 times larger than that of Bi:YIG single-layer film. Optical and magneto-optical quantities of film, such as θ_F, transmissivity; and Faraday spectra, can be designed artificially by choosing the disordered film structure. Use of the genetic algorithm for determining the disordered film structure is also described. |
