Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recent progress on multimedia telecommunications has expanded the range of battery applications and complicated patterns of battery uses. In this paper, we evaluate the cycling characteristics of trickle-charged Ni/Cd cells developed for optical network units. These cells can be used in a temperature range from -20℃ to 60℃ and survive for 10 years or longer at 30℃. In tests where the cells were cycled at charge and discharge currents of 1 CmA or larger, our cells showed a cycle life as long or longer than that of standard cells for cycle use.
