Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We propose a new video coding schem using filterbank and subband motion estimation. In most of video coding schemes such as MPEG, they have problems such as blocking artifacts and large amount of calculation in motion estimation. We use (lapped) filterbank instead of DCT to reduce the blocking artifacts, and use subband motion estimation with subband-block to reduce computational complexity. Intra-frames and difference frames in a video sequence are encoded by proper encoding mode respectively. They permit scalablity, progressive transmission, and exact bit-rate control. |
