Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents an efficient algorithm for the exarct Maximum Likelihood bearing estimator using a uniform linear array of sensors. The algorithm proposed is derived from approximating the likelihood function by a quadratic form with a linear term. The linear term introduced is an optimal in the sense that it is determined so that the approximate criterion has the derivative coincide with that of the likelihood function. Therefore the proposed algorithm provides the exact maximum likelihood solution. In other words, the algorithm proposed has the advantages that the ML technique has,i.e.,providing high resolution and high accuracy, and handling coherent signals and a single snapshot.Furthermore, because the seaxching procedure is not involved, the proposed algorithm is much efficient than the conventional algorithms for exact ML bearing estimation.
