Motion Estimation using less gray level images for MPEG Video

Abstract(in English) We propose a new method for motion estimation. This method is based on less gray level images to reduce the amount of computations. Thresholds for reducing gray level are determined by linear quantization or median cut. As a result, this method enables us to utilize not only bilevel images but also multi level images and moreover to combine it with the various conventional fast algorithms. In consequence of our simulation we confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method and the usefulness of the use of multi level images.
