Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When the application needs multiplications with various word lengths, all multiplications are executed on multipliers with the maximal word length or each multiplication is executed on multipliers of which word length is equal to each multiplication one. In either case, hardware cost may increase. In this paper, we propose a unit selection method for multiplications with various word lengths. We extend the unit selection method based on software pipelining so as to execute multiplications with various word lengths by sharing a multiplier. The proposed method enables us to improve hardware cost by sharing multipliers and selecting different type multipliers at one time.
