Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We evaluate the calculation cost(the number of multiplications and additions of the Galois field)of the encoder and decoder of elliptic code, and compare with that of Reed-Solomon(RS)code, for the purpose of measuring a distance to the application of the elliptic code to magnetic recording systems. This code encodes data on 1 sector(512 bytes)by 2 interleaved structure. We conclude that calculation cost of elliptic encoder is 3.1 times larger than that of RS encoder, and that calculation cost of elliptic decoder is 2.6 times larger than that of RS decoder.
