Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper is the summary of the invited talk at freshman session. Shift register sequences themselves and codes as the set of them have many engineering applications. Moreover, the concept of shift register has contributed to the easy understanding of the tool of the theoretical coding theory, e.g.finite field etc.. In this talk, I will present many topics on shift registers to which I encountered in my research and development life. Shift register sequences and codes based on the Lee-metric over the integer residue ring, parallel processing of shift register sequences, multi-level data scramblers and simple encryption schemes are included as the topics of my talk.
