Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Parameterization of the speech signal is the important step in the speech recognition process.Several popular signal analysis algorithms have emerged, which are intended to produce a parametric representation of the speech signal:parameters that capture spectral dynamics or changes of the spectrum with time.Current approaches to speech recognition are primarily concerned with modeling the vocal tract characteristics and for relevant reason cepstral parameters derived either from Fourier transform or linear prediction techniques enjoy widespread use in speeh recognition field.Alike cepstral parameters, formant frequencies can also be considered as meaningful parameters for recognition purpose. To investigate its capability some recognition tests have been performed with the formant paraineters, the cepstral parameters, and concatenated cepstral & formant parameters in different experimental conditions.Evaluation of these parameters in the case of HMM based Japanese vowel sound recognition is the main purpose of this paper.
