Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) DPCM is well-known as an efficient coding scheme for strongly correlated signals.Howevere,in the region of low bit rate,it is very difficult to apply it because it needs at least one ″sign″ b it,and the range of signals and their statistics are unknown. To cope with such a problem,a new universal coding scheme is,proposed, where the concepts of general triangle and universal representation of natural numbers are used in the encoding and decoding process. The asymptotic performance and the performance of finite block-length codes are also given.
