Error Correcting Algorithms for Image Vector Quantization

Abstract(in English) Vector Quantization(VQ)is an efficient coding technique,but sensitive to channel noise.Then,in this paper,we propose the error correcting algorithms of image VQ for noisy channel(binary symmetric channel)exploiting correlation in the image to restore it.The first proposed algorithm detebts and corrects errors-on the basis of the distortion between the received codevector and the predicted vector.The second algorithm corrects errors using the error detecting code and the correlation.Then,we consider the assignment of codewords to codevectors,and show the effects of the assignment by the computer simulation.
