PLL Frequency Synthesizer for Measuring Instroment

Abstract(in English) A well-known contradiction in a conventional PLL frequency synthesizer is between frequency resolution and frequency switching time.To solve this problem,PLL frequency synthesizer with N-stage cycle swallower(NSCS)has been presented,which can allow the smallest frequency increment and the reference frequency to be independent of each other.But PLL frequency synthesizer with NSCS can′t achieve enough high frequency resolution to use as meas uring instrument with wide frequency range.In ihis paper.we propose a novel type of PLL frequency synthesizer for measuring instrument with simple structiire,which derive high frequency resolution with wide frequency range.Moreover,the proposed synthesizer can achieve fast frequency switching.Our synthesizer consists of a PLL frequency synthesizer with NSCS,a conventional PLL requency synthesizer,and a mixer.Here,the two PLL synthesizers have a common reference source.The synthesizer described above is shown to be appropriate as measuring instrument.
