List-decoding of unit-memory codes and its implications to coded modulation

Abstract(in English) In this paper,we first consider the error exponent,especially, the error exponent of list decoding,for the AWGN channel with M- ary signal set.Motivated by the characteristics of the error exponent of list decoding,we next propoose a decoding algorithm for unit-memory codes and compare its error exponent as well as its decoding complexity with maximum-likelihood decoding(with the Viterbi algorithm).
