Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We present multilevel convolutional codes over integer residue rings Z_M(M=2^q)which have the property of superlinearity and are suitable for phase modulation in a scheme of multidimentional coded modulation. We have given an upper bound on the minimum squared distance of these codes.By computer search we have found some good codes which are tight to the bound. As a result,we have got better asymptotic coding gains than Ungerboeck schemes. In addition we have reduced the complexity of Viterbi decoding.
