Abstract(in English) A coding process of optimal VQ is a nearest neighbor search itself on a multidimensional space.In this paper,we propose a two- step nearest neighbor search algorithm faster than the so far proposed full search algorithms without a loss of performance.Our algorithm first reduces the number of possible candidate vectors using coarse prequantization and EPDS-11 we named.Then it can realize a fast search using the resultant candidate vectors more effectively.When the conditions are given 4£dimension!,8£partitio ns, dimension!and the rate is less than 10£bits/vector!,the simula tion result shows that our proposed method is faster than the tree search algorithm for the memoryless Gaussian source.
