Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recentlv digital communications in the 20 GHz-band or higher frequency bands are drawn to attention. For such systems, the rain induced attenuation is one of the primary concerns. To compensate such attenuation, either fixed or mobile ground terminals must have the capabilitv of adjusting their power over 10-20 dB range. It is shown that the rate-selectable Punctured Convolutional Code(PCC) can be applied to improve the performance of power compensation system for BPSK,without employing any power control equipment,For the power compensation of M-level modulation,we propose a rate- selectable coded modulation scheme called IH-PCC.An M-level IH-PCC scheme is obtained by using a rate-selectable PCC in conjunction with -M-level Imai-Hirakawa coded modulation scheme(IH scheme). In comparison with the conventional compensation techniques, the rate- selectable IH-PCC scheme dramatically improves the transmission rate performance of the system.
