Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The effect of error correction codes on the performance of direct-detection optical synchronous code division multuiple access (CDMA) systems with M-ary pulse position modulation (PPM) signaling and modified Prime sequence code as signature code sequence is analyzed. : Reed-Solomon (RS) codes and convolutional codes (CC's) with soft-decision Viterbi decoding. We analize the performance under the assumption of Poisson shot noise model for the receiver photodetector and under average power and bit rate constraints. We show that RS codes are more effective than CC's in order to reduce the degradation due to the channel interference with large M, while CC's are more effective for small M. We also show, that the number of simultaneous users is greatly improved by employing error correction codes to synchronous CDMA systems.
