The Coded Modulation of the Non-Uniform Signal Set

Abstract(in English) Geometrically Uniform(GU) signal sets have such a nice symmetry property as Voronoi regions is congruent, that GU codes permit an efficient search for good codes in term of asymptotic performances and rotational invariance. On the other hand, there are signal constellations with non-congruent Voronoi regions. For example, the Voronoi regions of outer points of many finite signal sets is not congruent with inner points of them. Moreover ther are useful signal constellations which is not only the Voronoi region is not congruent, but also the distance between signal points is not uniform. The signal set with non-congruent Voronoi region is called a non-uniform constellation. Accordingly, we attempt to make a GU signal set from a non-uniform constellation by using multi-D signal sets.
