Time Coordinate Permutations for Geometrically Uniform PSK-type Trellis Codes

Abstract(in English) The investigation of trellis codes using group theory are likely to be a good approach. Distance properties and internal structure becomes more visible. In this paper we show that time coordinate permutation is an important symmetry to be considered for subconstellations of L×MPSK ; it will allow the existence of smaller normal subgroups with binary factor groups compared with the best known GU partitions. With this observation, we will be able to increase by 3db the achievable upper bounds on the asymptotic coding gains of some GU trellis codes. Indeed, we have found some better trellis codes than previously found ones.
