Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In high density digital magnetic recording, PRML system is considered to be an effective signal processing method. Especially EPR4ML system is very attractive to achieve higher recording density. Houever, the Viterbi decoding for such a system is generally complicated, and the simplification of the decoding method is desirable. In this paper, a new decoding method for (1,7)RLL code in EPR4 system is proposed. Computer simulated results about the bit-error probability and computational complexity show that the proposed decoding method exhibits better performance than the various conventional decoding methods.
