Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The discrete cosine transform (DCT) is well-known as an efficient coding sheme of images. Recently a new type of DCT which is called ADCT has been proposed. However,in the region of low bit rate, the visual quality of transform coded image by ADCT is still low. In order to improve the visual quality, we propose a new concept of duplicate DCT (DDCT) such that the transform is performed twice: the first is the same as the conventional but the second is performed on the transformed image of which elements are permuted ingenjously. The computer simulated results for the standard images show that the visual quality by DDCT is better than that of ADCT.
