Abstract(in English) The authors have proposed a new media access control based on a polling method in Ethernet-PON(EPON) system. This method forms a handshake procedure in the upstream control between OLT-ONU, and accomodates the Ethernet packets of variable length within the transmitting permission time which restricts by OLT. So, it realizes the best effort service with effective use of the bandwidth according to traffic situation of ONTs, and guaranteed of the minimum bandwidth. In this paper, we evaluate performance from a viewpoint of upstream bandwidth use efficiency, and conclude the benefit in the LAN's burst traffic in a proposal method.
