| Abstract(in English) | Recently, mobile computers such as laptop, handheld and parmtop PCs have become able to communicate with each other by using wireless LAN protocols, e.g., IEEE802.11 and HIPERLAN, for achieving various internet services. In addition, based on the protocols, mobile computers including mobile personal computers, PDAs, autonomous mobile robots cooperate by exchanging messages in order to realize an application. Mobile computing networks are classified into the following two categories; infrastructured and ad-hoc networks. In ad-hoc networks, routing of messages and multi-hop message transmission are supported by mobile computers. Hence, ad-hoc networks are preferable for achieving temporary networks and networks whose topology is unstable due to the movement of mobile computers. Until now, many kinds of routing protocols have been developed under an assumption that mobile computers autonomously change the locations with low speed. In this paper, the authors propose a novel routing protocol for supporting ad-hoc clustered networks in which mobile computers with almost the same velocity and communication with each other by multi-hop message transmission form a cluster. In an ad-hoc clustered network, communication between clusters is available only if the distance between the clusters is less than the wireless signal transmission range. That is, a communication protocol is required to support sporadic communication. For supporting wider bandwidth between clusters even though the clusters move with high speed, we design protocols for switching gateways and for updating routing tables in the clusters according to the movement. |
