Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The current Internet has a single class of service, i.e., best-effort service, whereas multimedia information is actually transmitted there. Recently, many researches focus on a mechanism to provide some quality of service(QoS) required for applications such as delay-sensitive ones. When a real-time communication request occurs, the request will be sent to some server such as a policy server and the server will try to find a path meeting the requirement. If there are available paths meeting the QoS requirement, the connection will be established on one path of them. Otherwise, the request will be rejected. In this study, we propose a scheme to improve the blocking probability by delaying path reservation to some extent if there is no available path meeting the requirement. It is assumed here that the communication can tolerate some delay, which will be called acceptable delay. We evaluate the proposed scheme by using simulation experiments. Through our extensive simulation results, we have shown the improvement even if only small acceptable delay and small buffer size are assumed.
